Bags for Sale! Bags for Sale!

Tarah Smith out of LA has created the best bags!  These hold alls feature shiny gold hardware and saturated colors.  You can opt between using the handles or the shoulder strap.  The interior features zipper compartments as well as pockets for your cell phone and keys.  It is also spacious enough to house your brown bag lunch and tennis shoes or laptop if you so desire.  A fantastic everyday bag offered in pumpkin or camel.

If a zippered top is more your thing take a look at our selection of bags from Treesje.  You can select from clutches, wristlets, handbags, and large over the shoulder carryalls.  Treesje bags feature more of that great gold hardware and really interesting pleats and tucks that I haven’t found in any other bag line.  Definitely one to invest in.

Canyon Country Photography

A great gift idea that often goes overlooked during the holidays is original art.  True, it can get expensive and people have different color schemes playing in their homes which can make choosing something difficult.  This is why the new black and white photo exhibit at Veridis is a perfect solution.  These shots by local photographer Phil Bohn are all in black and white which makes them versatile in that they can work themselves into almost any decor.  By shooting the various National Parks in Canyon Country in black and white, the texture of the landscape really comes out.  The shadow and the play of light also become more pronounced.   Plus, aside from being gorgeous they come in at a really accessible price point: $50 – $150  including the frame!  This collection really needs to be seen in person to fully appreciate.  Enrich the life of someone you love this season with original art- an unusual gift that will inspire every day.

Ease your way into winter!

Posted in Uncategorized on December 5, 2009 by veridisclothier

Brand new to Veridis this winter is a line of versatile basics from Maggie Ward.  The real standout from the line are these amazing silk cargo pants/sweats.  They are easy, glamorous, comfy, and can really be dressed up or down.  We received them in a sueded silk option in this light sand color and a shiny silk pair (minus the cargo pockets) in black.  These are so fun and easy, a great way to bring a little glam into your life for the holidays without going over the top.  Other great additions to the store from this line are some awesome silk/viscose tees.  Super lightweight they have beautiful drape.  Try the dolman sleeve tunic in dusty rose or black or a thin seamed tee in black.  Like the tees from Helmut Lang, these tees drape on the body beautifully and make the wearer (you!) look instantly cool!

Also new to the store this season is Mike & Chris,  a great line of sweat-like basics and leather jackets.  Might seem like a funny combo but their sense of cut and style is impeccable.  Take note of this cowl-necked top with detachable vest; super soft and comfy, you’ll find a way to work this piece into your wardrobe all throughout the week/end.   In the same fabrication, Mike & Chris came with a great pair of harem leggings with an attached ruched skirt that provides some modesty along with its comfort.  Stay tuned for more from these great lines!

The holidays should be about joyous celebrations with family and friends, honoring each other with special gifts and thoughtful treats.  But sometimes things get stressful and crazy along with all the hustle and bustle of the season.   And then there’s that person on your list that is just impossible to shop for.  ooh!  My anxiety level’s rising just thinking about it.  What to do… what to do?

I know! A Veridis gift certificate! The answer to all your problems, plus this time there’s something  a little extra in it for you!   You’ll prove your sartorial savvy-ness by guiding your friend to the shop (there is absolutely something for everyone here) and be able to relax knowing that they’ll pick out something just right for themselves.  Plus, between now and December 24, 2009, when you purchase a gift certificate, you will receive another one to use for yourself (or as a gift) after the 25th!  Let me break that down for you:

Give a $50 gift certificate = receive an additional $10 gift card to use after Christmas!

Give $100 = receive a $20 gift certificate

Give $250 = receive a $50 gift certificate

Give $500 = receive a $100 gift certificate

The only stipulation is that you use the freebie gift certificates after the holidays!  Talk about a festive and fun deal!  aah.  Anxiety levels return to normal and you’re able to enjoy the season for all that it is.  Cheers!

Tis the Season!

Are you poised to sparkle this holiday season?  Now is the time to shine, and for most of us, the only time of year we really get to play dress up.  Seattle is a pretty casual town and pretty much whatever you want goes.  I hear it again and again, “I love this, I just need an occasion to wear it”.  You have to make the occasion!  You can wear jeans to the opera here-  Don’t wait for it to come to you!  Make a decision to dress up; to feel special, and be the best dressed girl/guy in the room.  If you’re overdressed- give them my line- tell them you just came, or are going to a much better party!  You know the adage, dress for the job you want not the one you have.   I say dress for the party you are, and it will rise up to meet you!

Plaid Friday

Posted in Uncategorized on November 26, 2009 by veridisclothier

I received a Daily Candy post about Plaid Friday down in S.F.  Basically it’s Black Friday but with a local twist.  Instead of shopping the big-box, big deal bonanza you look for the plaid- which features locally owned and operated businesses.  Yeah!!  Endorse the movement to support those in your ‘hood.  Wear plaid, but more importantly endorse “plaid”, which means put your money in something a little different, a little smaller, a little more original.  Plaid is where it’s at; you’ll see it literally this coming spring (plaid is HUGE).   Help us get there by supporting the little locals this big shopping weekend.  YOU make the difference in this small community!

BE PLAID AND A PART OF THE COMMUNITY THAT SUPPORTS LOCAL INDEPENDENT BUSINESS

How do you announce your presence?  Do you have a signature/statement piece that you’re known for?  How about  a hat?  A hat is something that you can wear every day and become a part of your signature (at least for 7 months of the year here) without overwhelming the rest of your sartorial statement.  A hat adds polish, sophistication, and that certain “I don’t know what” (you know, but in French).   These hats in particular are special.  Made by master milliner Eugenia Kim in the USA, they equate to quality that you will keep with you (literally, on your head) for years to come.  Salty berets that sit on the head just so, coy cloches that add an air of mysteriousness, and earmuffs in fox that are light years away from our childhood equivalents.  Yes, I do think a hat is the way to right any wrong or lost outfit.  It can be the cherry on your sundae and the perfect piece to polish off your everyday ensemble.

Embroidery details

Another beautiful piece from Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent.  She has taken a great basic, a flowy black rayon tank, and embellished it with a subtle silver-grey embroidery in an abstract, almost tribal pattern.  This is an excellent addition to any wardrobe.  First, it’s easy.  You want to wear this one and it works with a lot already in your closet.  Jeans? done.  Leggings? done again.  Secondly, there’s enough beautiful detail in the embroidery that you don’t need a whole lot else to complete the outfit.   In fact, this is a type of  garment that basically dresses itself.  I would pair it with skinny black jeans or leggings, add a heel if your up for it and a cool leather jacket and you’re set for a casual evening or stylish weekend afternoon.  I love clothes that do all the work for you!
